Selling Information As A Subscription And Promoting Affiliate Offers
Happy Sunday Morning!
I woke up pretty early today, sat down with my cup of coffee and read a few of my favorite affiliate marketing blogs. I came across a post by Lynn Terry over at ClickNewz.com that I want to share with you this morning. It’s the success story of 19 year old college student Hanson So . It’s a great interview and I picked up quite a few new ideas.
My favorite though and the part I want to share with you this morning is this:
The key is taking public information, organizing it, and selling it as a subscription. Users love to pay for content that they don’t have to organize themselves. [source - Clicknewz]
It’s brilliant! There is so much information out there that we can compile and organize.
My friend Christine does this with a meal planning service. Her subscribers pay her to compile 7 yummy dinner recipes per week into a meal plan and shopping list.
Another example are sites that will email you some of the best grocery coupons out there each week.
With each of these sites you could easily promote online groceries, cookware, bulk food items and the likes on the backend.
Here’s another fun idea. Take some of the public domain books available organize them by category, recommended reading age and the likes and sell them as a low cost readers club. You could add book club type questions and even give your subscribers a place to interact and discuss the books. You could then monetize the site further by recommending ereader and paid books to them.
How about creating summer reading lists for kids by age and interest. You could include some tips for parents, ways to motivate their kids to read etc. I’d pay to not have to go out and hunt down that information myself.
Using the basic concept of compiling and organizing public information and then selling it as a subscription is a great way to create your own information product. That in itself can become a nice stream of income. Then take it to the next level and leverage your hard work by adding some affiliate marketing to it.

I remember reading that article last week and also thought it had some great info.
I’d love to do something like that with dog info but have never figured out what I could offer.
