Getting More Done By Setting Deadlines
On Friday I shared a great little report with you about relationship marketing and mentioned that I connected with Connie and the three experts she highlights in her report at an Affiliate Marketing event called NAMS (it’s held twice a year in Atlanta).
Today I want to introduce you to another friend that I also had the pleasure to hang out w/ at NAMS. Her name is Peg Baron and you may remember me telling you about her Article Starter Packs (which I love).
Here she is with David Perdew of NAMS (we somehow managed not to get a picture taken together).

Peg and I were emailing last week and were both excited to hang out again in a few short weeks at NAMS. We’d also both stared setting some goals for this year. As you now, stuff won’t actually get done unless you set yourself a deadline. That’s exactly what Peg and I are going to do and I would love to have you join us. We have about a month until NAMS 7 starts. What can we get done before then?
Here’s the Plan
Each Monday morning, Peg and I will post our goals about what we want to get done for the week on our respective blogs. You can follow along here and at http://www.peggybaron.com/
I’ll get us started…
My main goal for this week is to work on a few more guest blog posts to help promote Daily Affiliate Tasks. I’ll also be blogging here a few times, stay active on social media, work on a free report and just in case that’s not enough writing for the week, I’d love to get at least 2 articles out there.
Goals for This Week
- Write 7 Guest Blog Post and get them submitted.
- Promote any published guest blog posts.
- Send out 5 tweets and Facebook posts per day.
- Create one free report and get it circulating.
- Write and submit 2 articles.
How about you Peggy? What’s on your agenda this week?

Great goals! The only thing I would add is audio, either a teleseminar, an update on Cinch.fm, or a podcast. Allowing others to hear our voice is extremely powerful.

Love these goals too! I just wrote out my list for the week this morning and have managed to get lots crossed off.
I am working on my freelance writing orders for the week then will have time for writing more PLR content, and creating a marketing plan.
Agree with Connie about using our voice just signed up with cinch and thinking about how best to utilize it in my business.
Hi Susanne,
This is already fun and making me really productive. :)
It looks like you’ve got a lot to do this week – I can see I’m going to have to step it up.
I like that you set social media goals in there. I’ll have to do that next week.
Good luck!
Peggy
BTW – That happy look on my face? It was the last day of NAMS and I was so impressed with all the information I got from every single speaker I heard. I couldn’t wait to get home and immediately apply some of the things to my business!
Hi Connie, thanks so much for the suggestion and you are absolutely right. I need to work on some audio and even video.
Haven’t heard of Cinch.fm. I’ll check it out today. What do you recommend for a podcast (how to record it, where to host it etc)
I also need to work on getting at least a few youtube videos up. Not sure what my holdup is there.
Susanne
Hi Sue … good for you. I hope today is shaping up to be just as productive.
My only piece of advice for you would be to set aside some time at the beginning of the day to work on your own stuff first, then move into the freelance work. It’s important to do stuff for your own sites first to make sure it gets done and you start building some passive income.
Keep it up and I can’t wait to hear about everything you got done this week.
Hi Peg, this really is a lot of fun. Loved your post and all the awesome comments you’re getting already at http://www.peggybaron.com/blog/internet-marketing-deadlines-and-a-challenge/
I love that picture of you and can’t wait to see you again in a couple of weeks. So far this morning is pretty productive. Hope I can keep this up all week. :)
Susanne
Connie,
I took some action and signed up for Cinch.fm right after I replied to your comment. I couldn’t believe how easy it is to use. Recorded my first cinch right away. The audio quality wasn’t great, but the second one turned out really well. And now i have two audios out there, another way to drive traffic to my sites and a way to get my voice out there.
Thanks so much for the little push. You’re the best.
Susanne
I listened to a cinch.fm recording by Kathleen Gage the other day, but didn’t have the time to really check it out thoroughly.
Good for you, Susanne, for taking immediate action on that! :)
So where do you plan to put your recordings? On your blog?
Peggy
They are hosted directly on Cinch.fm – you can listen to the two I have up so far here:
http://cinch.fm/susannemyers
I just embedded one of them on my Daily Affiliate Tasks blog here
http://www.dailyaffiliatetasks.com/blog/audio-tip-redirect-affiliate-links
I haven’t really given too much thought yet to where and how I can use them. Just dove in and recorded some stuff.
But so far I’m thinking of promoting them via social media (twitter and facebook) and embedding them in blog posts.
Hi Susanne, I found your link on Peggy’s site she mentioned to stop by and check out your goals for the week.
7 guest posts in one week and published and a free report. Wow you have some writing to do Susanne :-D
I wish I could hang out with you guys in Atlanta but it looks like I’m stuck in the UK for the winter.
Good luck on your tasks for the week Susanne.
Daniel
I’m a little bummed I won’t get to see everyone in February, the new dates fall right on my son’s birthday so I have to pass this time around – but I look forward to seeing everyone over the summer! (I feel kind of like a kid going to summer camp when I go to NAMS -lol-)
I’ve burned through two full idea notebooks since August and I’m still feeling the momentum from that NAMS event, so I think I can stretch it out to last until this August… just rolling right along.
Hi Daniel, very nice to meet you. Looks like you have quite a bit on your plate for the next few weeks as well.
Would love to meet you in person at a future NAMS event, Maybe in August for NAMS8 ?
Hi Lorretta, I’m bummed that I won’t get to see you but completely understand. I wouldn’t leave my daughter on her birthday either – maybe we need to get David a list of dates when not to have NAMS ;)
Glad you’re still going strong and I’m looking forward to seeing you in August.
