Online Article Writing Challenge – 100 Articles in 100 Days
My six-year-old shared with me this morning that there were exactly 100 days left in 2009.
I poured another cup of coffee and sat there pondering what I wanted to get accomplished this year and specifically what I could do in those 100 days to really move things forward.
Since I’ve been making a serious effort to get back into article marketing, I thought this would be the perfect opportunity for an online article writing challenge and the obvious choice was to commit to writing 100 articles in 100 days.
Oh boy… I scare myself sometimes. I actually held off writing this post for a few hours because I wasn’t sure I really wanted to commit to this. It sure sounds like a lot of work, doesn’t it?
Well, it is … but I also know that it will pay off for years to come. I’m ready to sit down, do the work and do what it takes to really get this blog off the ground. Getting a lot of articles out there is a great way to do it and telling you what I intend to do in this post is an excellent way for me to make sure I don’t wimp out.
I am committed to write 100 articles on various Affiliate Marketing Topics over the next 100 days.
All articles will be submitted to Ezinearticles.com and you are welcome to check up on me by taking a look at the articles submitted by S. Myers.
I’d also like to invite you to join me. Of course you don’t have to commit to writing 100 articles. Come up with your own number. Make it something that’s a little bit of a stretch (or else it wouldn’t really be a challenge), but something you can realistically accomplish if you put your mind to it.
Share your goal for this online article writing challenge as a comment below and then report on your progress between now and December 31st.

P.S.: If there’s enought interest in joining me in this challenge, I might just have to check with some of my wonderful online friends to see if we can come up with some prizes.

I’m in! I have been putting off my article writing efforts for too long. This is a perfect opportunity for me. Thanks for inviting us to participate :)
I commit to 100 articles before the end of the year as well.
I’m off to create a spreadsheet to keep track right now…
So glad you’re on board Bridgett. Excellent idea on the spreadsheet. What all are you going to be tracking?
Oh! You have me pondering now as well. I’ve got a lot on my plate at the moment, so 100 seems like it might be a good way to get me committed to the crazy bin. Although, when I get in a writing spurt I can crank out 10 articles in no time flat.
Hmm…. I am going to ponder this some more and come back later ;-)
I’m in! Sounds like a ton of crazy fun!!
PS: Help keep me accountable ;-)
Sounds like a great challenge. I can’t wait to hear about the results. :)
Article #1 written and submitted – only 99 more to go :)
I’ve been trying to do something similar, so this will stretch me just a little more. But I’m only playing halfsies.
Fifty.
I came to this post multiple times yesterday, sometimes even leaving the tab open …just to think…
And now here I am again this morning. I guess that means I’m in. LOL I have an article in the making that I’ll submit for yesterday’s and then I’ll get to work on today’s.
Thank you for going ahead with this, Susanne – and pulling me in with you like the magnetic force of death! Bwahahaha!!
Great Article Tips. I would suggest you put a orginal article on your website or blog. Then submit 30 different versions to EzineArticle for about 30 days. So in total you would need 1 original article and 30 rewrites of those article. 1 article a day for 30 days.
If you want to do it the easier way. Check out my Article Rewriting and Submission Service.
Take care,
Ray
Hi Ray, I prefer to write completely original content instead of rewriting / spinning. Might trick the search engines, but it really doesn’t add any value to the web.
Susanne
Why do you think that submitting to EzineArticles is better than creating content on your own blog? In the long run, I think you’d be better off enriching your own website.
Furthermore, when you write for your own website, you can include a direct affiliate link.
On another note, if I were to take up this challenge, I would write 5 descriptive article assignments per day, and I would assign them to various article writers. On oDesk and Elance you could find article writers who’ll do $10-$20/1,000-words with more than satisfactory quality. I might get the job done faster that way…
I’m not saying that submitting an article to Ezinearticle.com is better than posting something on my blog. I’m saying that I’m doing both. If my blog is out there all-by-itself on the web, it doesn’t do me any good. I need links pointing to it so it can be found both by people and by search engine spiders.
I’m also a big believer in seo and a huge part of seo is building incoming links. Writing and submitting articles is one of several ways that accomplishes that (in addition to driving traffic to my site directly via the resource box link).
This is a great idea and I’m going to join you! I haven’t decided on my specific number of articles yet, but you’re right that this effort will pay off for years if completed!
Thanks for the motivation….I’ll be back to report on my progress and to keep me honest! :)
I’m impressed! That is a very ambitious goal, but I like it. I’ll be following along :)
Friday night at 10pm – finishing my article for today. How sad is that?! :) It will pay off more than beer at the pub will though, right?
How is everyone doing with the article writing? I’m one behind so far but should be able to catch up today by writing and submitting two articles.
Susanne
Hi Susanne,
I agree that getting links is very important for SEO. And links from EzineArticles.com are relatively easy to achieve.
But a 100 links from one domain, i.e. http://ezinearticles.com, carry less weight than 100 links from various domains.
The good thing about EzineArticles.com is that they don’t “nofollow” links in the resource box. You may wanna submit your articles to other article directories that don’t “nofollow”.
I still don’t think this type of article marketing SEO is suitable for a generic blog. I think it’s more suitable for niche websites where you would want to rank for specifically defined keywords.
It may be good for generating a bit of traffic. But if traffic is the goal, there could be a better way to achieve it.
For example, get incoming links from various directories and other websites to increase the PageRank (i.e. trust) of your main domain, http://affiliatetreasurechest.com, then the high PageRank of your root domain will trickle down to your sub-pages thus increasing their rank in the SERPs, which would result in direct traffic to you.
I’m just brainstorming with you here to see where this type of effort can be best applied. But I’m sure that taking action is better than succumbing to the paralysis of analysis.
Best,
Mohammed
Great idea. I have been using article marketing for years and it works!
A great way to organize one’s process is to brainstorm a list of possible topics your market would be interested in. From there, break each topic into subtopics.
Then write 3 – 5 tips for each topic and subtopic. Then create a paragraph or two for each tip.

I’m pulling for you (“&remember to keep your stick on the ice”) quote stolen from the Red Green Show on PBS. Blog on!
Here’s proof that article marketing works. I found your 15 Tips on ezinearticles and clicked the link in your resource box and here I am :) Great article – not sure if I can do 100 in 100 days. I’ve done 0 in 7 days LOL.
I wish you luck and I’ll be checking up on you. Glad I found your blog through your article :)
