Back From NAMS and Ready To Get To Work

It’s been a little quiet the past few days here at ATC. I had big plans to blog throughout the NAMS conference, but ended up being to busy learning and teaching. I got back on Monday and ended up catching up on some much needed sleep and rest yesterday (not to mention laundry).

What Is NAMS

You’ve heard me talk about NAMS quite a bit on this blog. It’s an affiliate and internet marketing conference and workshop that’s held twice a year (usually in January or February and then again August) in Atlanta, Ga. Here’s a picture from this weekend.

A big thank you to Kurt Scholle for taking all sorts of wonderful pictures this past weekend. You can view them all here.

Just A Few Reasons Why I Love This Event

I went to NAMS2 a few years ago and haven’t missed an event since. There are a few good reasons for that. First and foremost, it is by far the best and most educational Internet Marketing Conference out there. There’s a reason it’s called a workshop. You’re there to learn and implement at the same time. This isn’t your typical “pitch fest” with a little content and an “opportunity” to spend ten grand at the end of each presentation. Pitching isn’t allowed and at one point during the last day, a student stood up and complaint that there wasn’t enough info on where to go to learn more from the instructors.

Which brings up another good point. I’ve been an instructor since NAMS 5 and am loving it :). This isn’t your typical speaking gig (something I’m not comfortable doing). Instead it’s about teaching and sharing what we’ve learned.

Here’s Nicole Dean teaching an all-day workshop on marketing your site.

To make sure there are workshops for everyone, they are divided into four different tracks from beginners to advanced marketers. It’s a great concept, but there’s one problem … I always end up missing sessions I really would have liked to attend, like this business model session for example:

Thankfully each session is recorded and I’ll be busy spending the next few days going through some of the sessions I missed.

Reconnecting With Old Friends And Making New Ones

One of my favorite parts of attending NAMS is reconnecting with old friends and being able to talk “shop”. Everyone here gets what we are doing and it’s nice to be able to chat about all things Internet Marketing. Below are a few pictures of some of the people I got to hang out with:

Me and Nicole Dean:

Me and Tracy Roberts (my wonderful roomie)

Me and Lain Ehmann (she had a lot to do with my big “A-Ha” moment):

Me and Connie Ragen Green – one of the smartest marketers I know.

Me and Paul Evans … Not only is he very funny, but I learn something new every time I hear him speak.

Here I am with Peggy Baron. I’m sure you remember her from the productivity challenge leading up to this event.

I finally got to meet Jimmy D. Brown in person. Loved his presentation on Saturday.

All in all it was another great event and I enjoyed catching up with old friends and of course making new ones. I hope to see you at the next NAMS event in Atlanta in August.

P.S. If you didn’t make it this past weekend, you can still benefit from the different workshops by listening to the recordings and following along on the presentations and worksheets.Get the recordings of NAMS 7 here:

P.P.S. Each NAMS I have at least one big “A-Ha” moment that helps me grow my business over the coming 6 months. I’ll share my big moment from this event with you tomorrow.
