How To Come Up With Article Ideas That Are Perfect For Deep Linking
A few days ago I shared with you what deep link ratio I work toward and how I use those deep links to rank various posts on my website. One of the things I like to do to come up with article ideas for this type of link building is to start with the end in mind.
I open up a blank word document, grab the url of the post I want to link to and then work out the resource box first. Then I come up with some ideas for an article that will transition well into the author resource box.
Sometimes those article ideas are obvious, but when I’m not coming up with much on my own, I like to use the Google Adwords Keyword Tool to help me out.
I don’t know if you’ve looked at this lately, but you get two different ways to find keywords. The first is to simply type a term in the search box. That’s what I use 90% of the time when I’m doing keyword research.
Another option is to enter the url of a webpage. This is what I use to help me come up with ideas for articles that are perfect for deep linking. I get the link of my blog post and plug it into the keyword tool. Like magic it spits out keywords for oodles of articles. I just pick one or two that I have something to share about and start writing.
Here’s what the keyword tool looks like. Note that I checked “Website content” under “How would you like to generate keyword ideas?”

Here are a few of the keywords it came up with that I could easily use to come up with article ideas.
- search engine add url
- free traffic
- link exchange free
- submit your url
- submit article
- increase traffic website
- targeted web traffic
- seo rankings
- link popularity
- article submission
And this is just a small sample of the various keyphrases google generated for me. I could easily spend a few hours this afternoon to write and submit 10 articles using they keywords above and build 10+ deep links to my post about deep linking. In fact, I think I’ll go work on a few of those right now.
I hope you’ll do the same. Start by looking at your website stats. Do you have a page or post that’s getting a little bit of traffic for a particular key phrase already? Where is it ranking? If it’s low on page one or even on page two or three, use to google keyword tool to brainstorm some article ideas (or any other way to come up with ideas). Then sit down and write at least 2 articles TODAY along with 2 resource boxes that deep link to the page in question. Submit them to Ezinearticles.com and watch your page move up in rankings and your traffic increase.

Susanne, this sounds to be a brilliant idea. One of my friend had a sudden increase in his blog’s traffic, when he looked into the stats its because of the post he has written on the heroes season 4, which is no way related to his niche. So what he did is continued writing 1 posts related to heroes out of 5 regular posts. Doing this he has consistently maintained the traffic. I find similarities in both of your approach. The hardest part is writing articles. I am very poor at it, however this is very lucrative and its luring to me write more. Thanks for sharing this tip.
I found this article very interesting and useful. I have found a very successful strategy using Google Keyword Tool. Since we sell international calendars, I looked for the most searched words that resulted from inputting calendar. Then we wrote articles targeted to the most searched keywords. Then we saved the articles so that the url had the targeted keywords for search engines. Then we went back and we wrote the titles to make them more interesting to the reader. We then started promoting the urls. We tripled our backlinks in a week.
