How To Find Affiliate Products For Your Niche
We are talking this week about niche marketing. So far we’ve covered ideas to come up with niches, how to set up a niche site and determining your target market.
I’ve also shared the various techniques I use to determine if a niche will be profitable in this short report. Now it’s time to figure out how to find good affiliate products for your niche so you can start earning some money for all your efforts.
How To Find Good Affiliate Products
There are a couple of different ways I go about finding good affiliate products for my niches. I keep looking through them until I find several programs I’m comfortable promoting.
Of course I also keep an eye out on a regular basis to see if I come across something new or better. It’s always a good idea to test which overs are converting best and get the best feedback from your visitors.
Search Engines
My first stop is often Google. I simply search for products. Since I mostly deal with information product I look for things like ebooks, membership, report etc. The basic search looks like this:
“keyword + ebook”
I like to search with the quotes around it at first and see if I get results. If not, try searching without quotes.
Another good search query is to use the keyword + affiliate / partner / referral etc.
Big Affiliate Networks
My next stop is usually the big affiliate networks. I like them in particular for smaller niche sites since I can promote several different products (even in different niches) and get one monthly check. Makes bookkeeping pretty simple.
I also like the big networks because I can get some data on how products are performing and what products are performing best without having to test it myself.
For info product, my favorite is Clickbank. For physical products I like Commission Junction and ShareASale.
To find the actual products, I take a look at the different broad categories and think of where my niche would fall. Sometimes it’s an easy match. For example, if my niche is weightloss for new moms, the products will be in the diet and weightloss section.
For other niches you may have to do some more digging. Keep thinking broader and broader until you find one or more categories it could fall under and start looking. You may also want to search for some of your main keywords in the search function of these sites.
Other Niche Affiliate Sites
Chances are you’re not the first to move into a particular niche. In fact, I’d recommend looking for other successful sites before you do.

Take the time to look for a few of your competitors (other affiliate websites on the same or similar topic) and look at what products they are promoting. What other ways are they using to monetize their websites. Do a little spying to come up with ideas for your own site and then test and see what’s most profitable for you.
Extra Tip – Just Ask
If you come across a great product that’s a perfect fit for your niche, but you don’t see anything on the website about an affiliate, referral or partner program, don’t just give up. Take the time to email the website owner, introduce yourself and your website and ask if he has an affiliate program.
One of two things usually happens…
1) He does have an affiliate program but doesn’t actively promote it on the website. At this point, the owner will usually send you a link or an invitation to join.
2) He has either no idea what you are talking about, or simply hasn’t set up an affiliate program. In this case, send a quick note back about how easy it is to set up an affiliate program and offer your help to get it set up. Usually I just need to point a website owner to the right resources to get it set up.
Of course not everyone will agree to set up an affiliate program. In that case I just politely ask that they keep my name and email on file and let me know if they decide to start one down the road.
Now it’s time to get to work. Pick one of the strategies I outlined above and see what affiliate products you can find. Rinse and repeat until you have a few good ones.
Next, take the time to buy the products. Pay attentionas you go through the sales process. If there are any stumbling blocks in the process you want to make your potential customers aware of this and how to manuver around them.
Once you get the product, use it. You want to be able to write a thourough review and make a good recommendation to your website visitors. Don’t be afraid to point out the negative – it will help build trust and credability.

Step by step by step… Okay,Susanne, you’ve got me on the right track. Focus focus focus. There are so many items out there to promote!
I know what you’re going to say. “Find one and stick with it until it’s done. Then find another one and stick with it until it’s done.”
Thanks again for laying the rail for me so I can get on the right track. :D
Always glad to help Patti :)
You know, I had to remind myself of the step by step and especially working on one thing, then actually finishing it before moving on to the next.
Ideas are flying at me so fast right now it’s hard to stay focused on one thing at a time.
