Twitter And Ezinearticles.com – Get Your Content Noticed

S. Myers, EzineArticles.com Platinum Author
I started talking about how to market with twitter yesterday and thought I’d share one of the ways I use twitter to help get the word out about my content.

I mentioned before on this blog that I do a good bit of article marketing. One of the places I submit articles to on a regular basis (both for this blog and my various niche sites) is Ezinearticles.com

How Can It Benefit You?

Why would you want to tweet about your content, your articles in particular? There are a few reasons and they all have to do with getting more people to consume your writing.

By tweeting about your articles, you will get more people to read them. Hopefully you have a strong call to action at the end of your article to direct them to your website or an affiliate product you’re promoting.

If you have a strong enough twitter following, this may be just enough to get you in the most viewed articles of the past 60 days for your category. Getting there will promote your article even further and get you more readers.

Provided your content is good and helpful, people will retweet and link to your article on Ezinearticles.com, leading to even more traffic. And since folks over there do a pretty good job letting readers know that the content can be reprinted, your article may end up on a few more websites as well.

What or When To Tweet

Next, let’s talk about how you can combine tweets and article marketing. There are quite a few times in the process when you can tweet. I don’t use all of them all the time, but instead pick and choose as it fits (and also depending on when I remember to tweet).

A great place to start is before you ever start writing. Ask your followers what you can help them with. See if they have questions or can suggest specific article ideas on a general topic. Here’s one of my recent tweets:

Working on some twitter related posts for my blog this week. What are your questions and challenges about twitter affiliate marketing?

While you are working on an article or right when you get ready to start, tweet about it. It’s as simple as typing “Writing an article on …” This builds some anticipation.

Alternatively (or in addition to), you may want to tweet about an article that you’ve just submitted. Again this will build anticipation. Don’t forget to mention that you will let them know when the article is live.

To automate this next step, connect your twitter and Ezinearticles accounts and have tweets sent out when the article is published. To do this, log into the Ezinearticle.com Member Area and click on “Profile Manager”, then “Edit Author Bio”. From there, scroll down to the Social Media URLs and click on the one for twitter. Enter your Twitter URL (i.e. http://twitter.com/susannemyers ) and below give EzineArticle.com access to your twitter account.  Once that’s done, every time a new article gets approved and goes live, a tweet with the title and a link to the article is sent out through your twitter account.

Of course it doesn’t have to stop there. You can tweet about your article again and either share a quick tip from the article in your tweet or ask for feedback.

Don’t forget to tweet  and let your followers know that they can reprint the article (if applicable). This works particularly well if you have a group of peers as part of your twitter following. For example, if you blog on cooking and homemaking and have a group of twitter users in the same market following you, they may be interested in using the article on their own blog. It’s just another way to spread your content far and wide.

Extra Tip – You an use the same same strategy for other article directories as well. Most of them just don’t have the twitter connection build in. In that case, just tweet yourself that your article is live.

P.S. I’ll be using this strategie for a few articles. Follow me on twitter (@SusanneMyers) to see it in action. A master of this is Jeff Herring – I recommend you follow him as well.
