Why Register A Domain Name To Promote An Affiliate Product?
It occurred to me while I was walking up to my daughter’s school to pick her up that I never really explained why I suggested you register a domain for the clickbank ebook you chose to promote. There are two main reasons and a little sneaky one…
- Stolen Affiliate CommissionsIt’s a sad fact, people steal your commissions. At the very least, anyone with any savvy and a very basic knowledge of affiliate marketing knows how CLICKBANK works and how to replace your CLICKBANK ID with their own to order. It’s worth $7.49 a year and 10 minutes of work to me to make sure I get those commissions.
I don’t register a new domain for each product I promote. If I use an affiliate link on one of my other sites, I simply set up a page and do a redirect on it. Here’s an example http://www.hillbillyhousewife.com/livingonadime.htm . I’ll show you how to set those up in a future post.
- More Credibility and Higher Clickthrough RatesLet me ask you this: What link would you be more likely to click on?

http://www.cookrestaurantrecipes.com/It’s pretty easy to see that the second link looks cleaner and more trustworthy. The first one just looks funny, especially to someone that isn’t terribly websavvy (which is the majority of niche customers / visitors )
Because you have this higher credibility, you’ll end up with a higher clickthrough rate anywhere you add this link (be it articles like we’ve been working on or some of the other sites we’ll talk about in the coming days.
- Here’s the Little Sneaky TrickRemember I mentioned that you shouldn’t submit your articles to EzineArticles.com yet because they do not allow you to promote your affiliate links. There are a few other article directories out there with the same policy and sometimes you can sneak an article in with your affiliate link “hidden” like this. (Use at Your Own Risk – and set up a new account for this at each directory).
P.S. My favorite place to register domains for this is Godaddy because the domain forwarding and masking is so easy.
