Sub Niche Marketing – Why It May Just Be Your Ticket To Affiliate Success
Yesterday as I as walking to pick my daughter up from school, I noticed that a former colleague of my husband’s was working in the yard of a neighbor up the street. Bill had stopped working retail and opened a landscaping business, but not just any old landscaping business. You see, Bill has been passionate about roses for decades and has become quite the expert on how to grow them and keep them healthy.
So he opened a landscaping business specializing in rose care (yes, it says so right on his truck). Talk about a tight niche. We spoke to him a few weeks ago and he is doing really well for himself. He is getting a lot of word-of-mouth referrals because he is “the expert” around here when it comes to roses. And he is able to charge a premium for everything he does (even if it’s just cutting the grass ).
Bill has carved himself a nice little sub niche out of the much larger (and more competitive) landscaping market. How can we apply this to affiliate marketing?
Let’s look at the dog training maket for example. It’s a pretty big niche for affiliate marketers and quite competitive. You could become yet another guy or girl with a dog training blog or website, or you could sub niche that market and instantly improve your chances of creating a popular site that will skyrocket your affiliate income.
Let’s say for example you happen to have a beagle and are fimilar with that particular breeds little quirks and oddities. You could build an affiliate website around training and care of beagles.
One concern you may have is that there aren’t any ebooks on training beagles out there that you could promote. Not to worry. You can still promote the same dog training guides that are selling well in this niche.
Even better, you can make yourself stand out from the competition by offering a little bonus report. Read the dog training manual and make a note of any tips and strategies that may need to be modified to work better for a beagle. Then offer this report as a bonus to anyone that buys the dog training guide through your affiliate link.
As you are debating your next affiliate site or even if you’re considering tightening the focus on existing sites, keep this sub niche marketing idea in mind. You may get less overall traffic to your site, but the traffic you get will be very tarketed (resulting in higher conversions) and it will be easier to stand out from teh crowd and become the expert everyone is talking about.

I like that idea of narrowing the niche you might be in. It could be hard at first but the idea of going through the ebook and getting ideas that you could offer as a bonus really sounds like something to do. Thanks.
I build sites with very tight focuses and have had great success. It’s allowed me to rank highly in a short period of time for my keyword and I get a steady stream of targeted traffic.
