Become A Better Marketer in 60 Seconds A Day
I woke up this morning to a nice little surprise… my picture, tip and most importantly link were at the top of a post on The Toilet Entrepreneur blog. If you are not familiar with Mike Michalowicz, he is a serial entrepreneur and author of the book The Toilet Paper Entrepreneur
I’ve enjoyed reading his blog over the past few months and recommend you do the same. One of the features that makes his blog special is that he asks other entrepreneurs to share their thoughts and tips on a particular topic. Last week, he asked about what you can do in just 60 minutes a day to become a better marketer or entrepreneur and I took a few minutes to answer…as did 167 others. There are quite a few great tips in that one blog post. One of my personal favorites was the suggestion to sit down and come up with one thing you can improve in your business today. Then start working on that.
Side Note: A Lesson in Link Building
This is also a great lesson in link building. In case you missed it, I got a pretty powerful link directly to my affiliate niche pack site from this little blog post. All I did was take about 2 minutes to think about and write a little tip on becoming a better entrepreneur and it ended up being accepted and posted. That link will send me quite a bit of traffic (especially today) and will help with my search engine efforts over time as well.
But the lesson goes deeper. Think for a minute about what Michael is doing here. He is coming up with a very interesting blog posts that people will naturally want to link to. But since he is a smart marketer, he’s taking it a step further. He emailed each of us 168 contributors thanking us for the tip, letting us know that it is up on the TPE blog and then asked us to help spread the word by blogging about it (as I am doing right now) or using social media like twitter and facebook to spread the word. That’ll result in quite a few incoming links for him (not to mention lots of traffic as well).
