Building Hub Pages For Affiliate Commissions
This is the third installment in our little case study on generating affiliate commissions without a website. So far we’ve picked a niche and then a product and set up a domain that will forward to our affiliate link. Next we started submitting some articles to various article directories.
When I first mentioned article directories, I told you that by far my favorite is EzineArticles.com, but unfortunately they will not allow you to link to an affiliate link in the resource box of your article there. I also told you that there was a way around this, which is what we are going to work on today.
Let me give you a quick overview over what we are going to do today and then we’ll walk through it step by step.
1) Create a Hubpage Using one of our keyphrases
2) Write an article on another keyphrase, write a resource box that will link to our hubpage and submit it.
Pretty simple, right? Let’s get to work.
I went to hubpages.com and signed up for an account. Next I set up a profile with a short little discrpition and a link to our recipe domain.
Here’s what I wrote for the profile:
marie claire on HubPages
Hi, I’m Marie Claire and I’m a foodie. I love to cook and a particular passion or hobby of mine is to recreate some of my favorite restaurant foods right at home in my own kitchen.
Some of my favorite “copycat” recipes can be found at http://www.cookrestaurantrecipes.com/
Pretty easy so far, right? Next I started to work on my first “hub”. The process is pretty self-explanatory, but there’s also an awesome tutorial on creating hub pages here.
Here is the hub page I created:
Note that I used one of the keywords / keyphrases that we picked in an earlier lesson. By the way, we’re going to go into keyword research a little deeper in an upcoming post.
A Little Side Note
You may be wondering why I am picking hub pages at this point. Our goal with this little case study is to start generating affiliate commissions without having your own website, which is why we are submitting articles and putting content on other content networks like hub pages (we’ll also talk about squidoo and wordpress.com down the road).
While I was doing the initial research for copycat recipes and secret restaurant recipes, I noticed that there were quite a few hubpages ranking for those terms. Thus the choice to create a hubpage.
Now back to work ….
Our next step is to write an article with a resource box that will point to our hubpage and then to submit that article to Ezinearticles.com
Write an article that’s between 350 and 450 words long and then come up with a compelling resource box. I like to work another keyphrase into the title of that article with the goal of getting it ranked as well. For today’s article I’m choosing “famous restaurant recipes”
My article is “How to Find Famous Restaurant Recipes” (I’ll post a link to it once it’s approved).
That’s it for today. At this point you could of course write a few more articles and submit them to the various article directories. These articles can point either directly to your redirected domain, or to the hub page you just created.

P.S. Get to work and set up that first Hubpage … then come back here and comment on your progress and share the link.
