A few days ago I shared with you what deep link ratio I work toward and how I use those deep links to rank various posts on my website. One of the things I like to do to come up with article ideas for this type of link building is to start with the end in mind.

I open up a blank word document, grab the url of the post I want to link to and then work out the resource box first. Then I come up with some ideas for an article that will transition well into the author resource box.

Sometimes those article ideas are obvious, but when I’m not coming up with much on my own, I like to use the Google Adwords Keyword Tool to help me out.

I don’t know if you’ve looked at this lately, but you get two different ways to find keywords. The first is to simply type a term in the search box. That’s what I use 90% of the time when I’m doing keyword research.

Another option is to enter the url of a webpage. This is what I use to help me come up with ideas for articles that are perfect for deep linking. I get the link of my blog post and plug it into the keyword tool. Like magic it spits out keywords for oodles of articles. I just pick one or two that I have something to share about and start writing.

Here’s what the keyword tool looks like. Note that I checked “Website content” under “How would you like to generate keyword ideas?”

Here are a few of the keywords it came up with that I could easily use to come up with article ideas.

search engine add url

free traffic

link exchange free

submit your url

submit article

increase traffic website

targeted web traffic

seo rankings

link popularity

article submission

And this is just a small sample of the various keyphrases google generated for me. I could easily spend a few hours this afternoon to write and submit 10 articles using they keywords above and build 10+ deep links to my post about deep linking. In fact, I think I’ll go work on a few of those right now.

I hope you’ll do the same. Start by looking at your website stats. Do you have a page or post that’s getting a little bit of traffic for a particular key phrase already? Where is it ranking? If it’s low on page one or even on page two or three, use to google keyword tool to brainstorm some article ideas (or any other way to come up with ideas). Then sit down and write at least 2 articles TODAY along with 2 resource boxes that deep link to the page in question. Submit them to Ezinearticles.com and watch your page move up in rankings and your traffic increase.

If you’re ready to learn more about article marketing including how to write compelling resource boxes, sign up for Jeff Herring’s Affiliate Marketing For Beginners. I’m going through this right now and am happy to report that I’m writing lots of articles for my various websites and am already seeing improvements in how often my articles are republished and in the amount of traffic I’m getting directly from my article resource boxes.

Today I’m going to share an article by Jeff Herring from Article Marketing For Beginners with you. I have three reasons why I’m doing this. One very obvious one – it’s great content, you’ll learn something and hopefully it will entice you to sign up for Jeff’s course (through my affiliate link ;) ), but I also have two not quite so obvious reasons that I’d like to share with you so you can implement them into your business as well.

My next reason was to show you how you can use reprint articles most effectively. Let’s face it, it’s hard to come up with new stuff to talk about on a regular basis. When you’re not sure what to write about, go to an article directory (my favorite is EzineArticles.com) and see if there’s an interesting article on the topic you could use. Do some research to find the right keywords. Then create your own title and write a paragraph or two to introduce the article. You obviously don’t need to add as much as I’m doing here, but try to put at least 2 to 3 sentences together. Work your keyword in there if you can. After that, just paste in the article.

My third reason is probably the sneakiest. I’m working on a guest blog post and needed an example of how I do this reprinting article thing. Not only will this post you’re reading here illustrate my point in the guest blog post, it also gives me a chance to create another link to my site (told you it was sneaky).

Now that I’ve let you in on my 3 secrets for posting this article, take a minute to read through Jeff’s article on 3 big mistakes you want to avoid when you’re writing articles.

Article Marketing For Beginners – The Top 3 Biggest Avoidable Mistakes and What to Do Instead

Article marketing is a great way to get started on the internet, because it is the gateway to creating content, driving traffic, building a list, creating marketing messages and creating products.

The challenge for many is there are so many mistakes you can make just starting out. The good news is these mistakes are avoidable. Here are 3 of the top mistakes, how to avoid them and what to do instead.

Wimpy Titles – The title of your article is just like a headline in a newspaper or magazine. It has one purpose: to get you to want to read the article. If you create a “wimpy title” then you are unlikely to get many readers, and thus not many prospects.

EX: The title of this article could have been “Mistakes to Avoid When Starting to Write Articles.” Not a completely bad title but it is wimpy because it does not compel you to read the article.

Contrast this with the title of this article – “Article Marketing for Beginners – The Top 3 Biggest Avoidable Mistakes and What to Do Instead.” This title starts off by telling you who the article is for: beginners. Then it goes on to give clear benefits: the 3 biggest mistakes and what to do instead.

See the difference?

Constipated Bodies – What did you just say? Is this a laxative commercial? No, it’s just a strong term IÂ use to make sure my students and members don’t make this mistake. Most people will just stick the entire article body together into one big hunk of text. This “constipates” the eye of the reader and does not let the reader flow through the article.

You want to break up you article body into easily readable chunks of info that allows the reader to flow through the article.

Notice how IÂ have done just that with this article.

Snobby Resource Boxes – A snobby resource box is one in which the author begins to talk all about themselves and their many accomplishments. It’s all about them.

The reader Does Not Care! The reader (prospect) is interested in what is in it for them. When you create a compelling Call to Action, you invite the reader to click through to your web site or blog to get more good information from you that will help them in building their business.

Here’s an example of a strong Call to Action in your Resource Box:

And now I’d like to invite you to claim your FREE Instant Access to a 3 minuted video on how to quickly and easily craft your first 10 (or next 10) articles when you visit ArticleMarketingForBeginners.com.

The video will only take 3 minutes of your time and then you can check out the other resources available for beginning (and veteran) article marketers.

From Jeff Herring – The Article Marketing Guy and The Great Article Marketing Network.

Here’s a little extra tip, you can always add a little more unique content to the bottom as well. In this case I’d like to invite you to leave a comment and let me know:

How did you like the article?

What’s the biggest mistake you’ve made when writing articles?

My biggest mistake has always been to not put enough time and effort into article marketing on a regular basis. Doing my best to get better at it and I’m trying to submit at least 2 articles per week that point to this blog.
